Welcome to Economic Politics

Post  Admin on Wed Aug 20, 2008 7:52 pm

I have designed this forum hoping to find others who think politics and economics are as interesting as I do. As I'm sure you may know, most people think these topics aren't any of their concerns and should be left to politicians and world leaders to deal with. However, if no one is educated, or even interested in what is going on in the world beyond MTV, we end up with societies that vote in elections based on popularity and personal sex lives rather than what these people can really do for a country scratch . Tabloids and comedy shows end up being the only source for world news (although I do love the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, it should not be any nation's most accurate source of information) and actors and actresses become shoe-ins for any election (although I do hear that the "Governator" is doing good things for California). This can lead to misinformation like "China is America's largest trading partner" because rumors say the United States abuses their workers.

This forum is for people who do not only enjoy discussing politics and economics, but enjoy having their opinions challenged. I want as many different perspectives as possible, only one can lead to ignorance. I firmly believe that both of these subjects are 90% based on theory, and 10% on mathematics and calculations, which leaves a great deal of room for debate Wink .
Systems based on these 'theories' are what decides who our world is run, whether capitalist or socialist, and are very important in everyone's daily lives although they may not realize it.

The goal of this forum is to remove those sorts of misinformation, rumors, and gossip. Anyone who really appreciates discussion can agree that's an important goal. I am an American and I'm sure that my opinions may show that; I also hope to get people who are from other countries and encourage them to express any sort of opinion no matter how "western" it may or may not be. Who knows, maybe we'll all learn something from each other that we can show in our own ways of doing business Smile .

Welcome to Economic Politics!!! cheers
