Member Rules
Here are guidelines and rules for using and posting to this forum:
1) Security - This forum is hosted for free by forumotion.net. Because it is free, there is a chance that nothing is as secure as it should be. I can regulate posts, but only so much so I can't actually control the security of the website. When making a screen name, don't use any real names or exact locations of where you live. If you want to say you're a young female American -like myself- that doesn't narrow you down to be pin-pointed. But if you give exact age, states, regions, or cities, you could be located by someone you don't want knowing where you are. Discretion is key when talking about yourself online.
2) Discussion - I want posts on this forum to be true discussions. I don't want to see one-liners everywhere on the website. When you want to say "I agree" don't waste a post with two words. Describe why you agree, and add something to the conversation.
3) Opinions - As I stated before, I believe that economics and politics are 90% theory. Opinion makes a large part of that. I don't discourage sharing personal points of view, but it must be distinguished from fact. If you want to make a statement that is opinion, say "in my opinion..." or "I believe that...". If you want to make a statement that has already been established, say "according to..." or "based on...". Even if you can add a link of where you retrieved any information, that would be awesome. (Although I am a firm believer that most media is biased and very inaccurate.
)
4) Courtesy - Swears and curses are unnecessary. These are not extremely emotional topics and nothing should be taken personally. This forum is designed for debate which means that people are going to challenge what you are saying just as you can challenge what they post. Remember, debate is the purpose of the forum, arguing and bickering is just petty.
