The United States' Coup D'Etats

Post  Admin on Tue Sep 16, 2008 10:09 am

I want to use this example to show you how important it is to look at an issue objectively.

The United States manipulates elections all over the world. "Manipulate" is used by those who support the old regimes, "democratic development" is used by the United States. Same issue, two totally different outlooks that insinuate two totally different actions. Objectivity is key in this. I hope I can be as objective as possible, but I can't guarantee it. When reading this, try to forget who you and where you come from just long enough to attempt to understand this issue without pre-stated biases. I'll try the same.

Upsidedownworld.org posted an article on their website about a number of elections around the world that have been influenced by the United States: Ukraine, Serbia, Belarus, and Georgia. According to the site, the United States chooses a candidate and not only funds their campaign, but manipulates the media with exciting words and forging polls to convince the people of the host country that the current leader rigged the previous elections. Use of words is dangerous... remember that.

I've heard a lot of rumors about this sort of thing happening. I wasn't sure if I believed it. I didn't doubt it, but I never had any proof to substantiate it. So, I went to one of the sources used by Upsidedownworld.org: the Washington Post.

The Washington Post said that the United States enters these countries not to choose a candidate, but to prepare a "...democratic framework for a fair election." The article continues to defend the United States saying that we simply want to create democracy, spread freedoms, allow other less fortunate countires to enjoy the same rights we do. Words. Words. Words.

The same exact issue. Two totally different takes on it. So how to you separate the issue from the words and the biases? You can't trust the poll whether it's accurate or not because it was claimed to be forged. You can't trust the old presidents because they were claimed to have bought elections. What do you trust?

Facts.
Actions.
History.
I personally believe the United States is manipulating the outcome of these elections for politically strategic reasons. I believe it is 100% selfish. That is my personal opinion. I'm going to support it by looking into these presidents from the old regimes who were overthrown to see whether or not they actually did anything good for their country. If they increased the standard of living, provided legitimate services, and received a large amount of public support, then they were doing good things for their country and their people and should NEVER have been overthrown (no matter what the United States thinks about their political system). If people were sick, straving, and living in terrible conditions that only got worse throughout the administration, then perhaps the United States did the right thing.

Don't just take the word of Upsidedownworld.org nor the Washington Post. Take the time to find out what really happened, and what is really supposed to.
