German Mosque
Ahmadiyya is a group of religious people that call themselves a sect of the Muslim faith. They have a large number of people living in Germany and have set a goal of building 100 mosques in the country. During the process of building the first mosque, Germans have actually began protesting it.
I'm sure a lot of people automatically turn to the idea of Nazi Germany trying to oppress the Muslim religion, but that's not true.
Apparently, they believe that this particular sect has harbored ill will towards women's freedom. Supposedly, the faith supports multiple wives and the beating of them.
This is a very interesting and complicated argument; one that the US has had to deal with a number of times.
When do you separate religious freedom and civil rights?
Of course, on this issue, I've only read one article and it could all just be stereotypes and he said she said (Although Ahmadiyya is a sect that is not fully recognized by the Muslim faith because all their ideas don't quite match up). But some issues, it's a little more obvious.

Racism may have begun with Catholicism. I think it was Noah's son who walked in on him while he was getting dressed and went to tell his brothers and laugh. Noah said because of Ham saw him naked and tried to embarrass him, the rest of his descendent's would be slaves to those of his brothers. Ham was then translated into "black." During the years of slavery in the US, religion was the reason for it, "God said so". Obviously this is an extreme case, but it was the same thing with women. Eve got Adam kicked out of Eden, so women were below men. When do you say civil rights is more important than religious freedom? Thankfully, we've put civil rights on top... after a few hundred years...
A more recent issue was the cult in the mid-west. Men were marrying children and having kids with them. They found kids under 12 that already had 3 babies. They did this in the name of a religion (I don't remember which one, either way I remember that the central church didn't accept them). They were prosecuted I believe.
So what about the case in Germany? If we assume that they do treat women the way all women were treated 80 years ago, then should they be allowed to practice religious freedom at the expense of the women in the mosque? Once again, assuming they do treat women badly, and they are allowed to open 100 mosques in Germany, will it spread?
Should Germany risk the fact that they may or may not abuse women and open the mosque anyway in the name of religious freedom? Remember, these could all be just false accusations from those who don't want to accept Muslim faith in their neighborhood. Who do you trust? Good luck Germany.
